[ Sometimes he wonders how this even happened. He used to be so determined to get his sweeping romance-movie schmoop. PDA and complimenting someone until the sun exploded... fairy tales and rainbows, all that stuff.

Loving Ed is less like a movie and more like loving a cat. Sometimes there's a struggle in the affection area, since Ed likes to keep himself prickly that way. But he loves him. And if there's anything he's learned for sure, it's that Ed doesn't stick around people he can't stand. Ed admitting he has 'true feelings' would be like Bolin admitting that he's a slow reader. Like maybe it's never strictly been said out loud, but it's present and occasionally frustrating to be burdened with, and they've spent way too much time around each other for it to be surprising anymore.

He's never really pursued relationships in the past, and he's always been awkward about the sappy things. Bolin is actually so far from how he used to imagine his partner to be like and these many months they've been together still feel like a strange dream. ]
